Beecraigs is the largest Country Park in West Lothian and offers many routes and trails to explore by foot, bike or horse. There is also a wide range of recreational facilities including several orienteering courses, adventure play area, playpark, BBQ area, the animal attractions of red deer, highland and belted galloway cattle, and Hebridean and North Ronaldsay sheep, fishing on the loch, mountain bike trails and skills area, archery and geocaching to name a few.
The main paths in Beecraigs are good, broad paths. However, some of the lesser-used paths can be very muddy at times. Please wear appropriate footwear as this wander takes you to some of the smaller pathways.
We have taken a minimum of three average readings on three different devices but please bear in mind accuracy can vary due to tree cover. Additionally mobile phone signal can be poor so if you use a smartphone for geocaching, it is advisable to save the caches offline. Public WiFi can be found in the Visitor Centre along with a cafe and public toilets.
More information about the park and car park opening times can be found here on the website.
Many thanks to the Ranger Service for permission to place this geocache and for their support of our hobby.
The Cache: As the title suggests, GZ is across the ditch. There is no need for a leap of faith if you are not comfortable as there are easy access routes further along the path in both directions. You will need your own pen to sign the log. If you log a find without signing, your log may be deleted. There is no need to rip or damage any moss, the hide has nothing to do with moss.
