Descend into a canyon less traveled and most scenic, with sweeping views of the Cascades you'll know why we chose this destination when you see it. On a clear day, if attentive, you'll see Mt. Jefferson peek through the gap, and if you are quiet you'll hear slews of geese, ducks, magpies, and birds of prey yap. This cache lies in a place worth taking a rest. Not due to fatigue, but to take in the views, including a very special nest. It's here that the Crooked River hugs the rugged edge of Smith Rock, and in the distance, there's a Ponderosa that Bald Eagles live atop. With binoculars, and patience, you will find this massive nest, and if you don't immediately see its occupants, look closely and a white head may emerge from rest.
