The Foveaux Walkway has been closed for a few years but is open again to allow a walk all the way around Bluff Hill. The total track is about 14.7km but you can make it shorter (or longer) using the trails up Bluff Hill. Starting points with parking are by the big metal Bluff sign at Ocean Beach or at Stirling Point near the Signpost. When I did the full loop, very slow amble, it took 4 hours. Can be done in less time than this, or more as the views are quite fine. The part from Ocean Beach to Lookout Point is the part that may be closed due to cattle grazing. There are signs placed at both of these starting points, please observe these and do not attempt if the walkway is closed. Being farmland the trail is rougher than the well prepared Bluff Hill trails, so expect a few boggy areas and rougher terrain. You may also have to shoo away the odd cow!
This cache is beside a reservoir near Ocean Beach just a short walk from the Bluff sign so you do not need to do the whole track, though it is worth it even if just over to the far beach and back. There is a gate/fence to climb over as it seems to be missing a style. Trail is well marked with orange flags.
Don't forget the cache at the Bluff Sign.
