A post office was once the heart of a community. Throughout the years, a multitude of post offices have existed in Dodge County. Some have faded from popular memory. Others are still holding on as small communities. Today, Dodge County has 11 remaining post offices in service. Whether or not the railroad came through was sometimes the determining factor in a small town's survival. Rural delivery closed a number of these small “local” post offices. Many are still alive in memories, stories and photographs. Today, you will find a historical marker placed in recognition of such a settlement.
