This is a cemetery geocache. Please be respectful. Enter during daylight only. The nearby buildings are airplane hangars. I'm not sure if the entrance is plowed in winter, but during other seasons, you can drive into the cemetery.
This is the site of our airplane accident. I was 19. My Dad was the pilot. We were flying our small Cygnet that we kept here at the Norwood hangars. We had just taken off, were 500 feet up and in the middle of a bank, when the engine quit. There wasn't any time for my life to flash before my eyes or anything so dramatic. I heard Dad say, "Oh no" and I saw the gravestones in the cemetery coming toward us. I believe in Providence, and that it was not our time to go, but I also trust in my Dad's quick thinking and skills as a pilot. He managed to bring the plane down safely, overshooting the runway, sliding across the grass toward the cemetery, taking out the fence and hitting one fence post before the plane stopped safely. Dad and I were both completely unharmed.
I am now 52 years old and Dad is 77. The accident was not his fault, nor was it one of the airplanes that he built. Nevertheless, I never mention it to him. Some things are better left unsaid. Sooo, if you ever have the honour of meeting my Dad.... shhhhh.
Enjoy the geocache. I've often thought about placing one here, and I finally did.
