A cache that brings you through this beautiful glen. We discovered it during the COVID19 pandemic, as one of the few places places that we could travel to for a walk without leaving our council area. What a find it is!
This cache is place off the path (and over the fence) on a wee track to the most beautiful little waterfall. Loads of daffies at the time of placing the cache which reminded us of one of Mrs ST's family stories (see below) and lead to the name.
So, on to the name. It would appear that Mrs ST can't enjoy a woodland walk in the Spring without exclaiming that 'that will be the Chaffies in the Daffies' (even if it's a crow on the tulips!). Mrs ST's grandmothers were both full of character and unusual sayings. One Gran always referred to chaffinches as 'chaffies' and daffodils as 'daffies'.
We have tended to park at the roadside near to the waypoint for the entry to Pollick Glen. Loads of on street parking here without obstructing driveways etc. For a nice (and still only 15 minute) circular, continue up the glen and out onto Pollick Avenue and Tannoch Road. This brings you back to your car through the village.
Our pictures were taken in March during one of the COVID 19 pandemics. This means that our coordinates were taken at a time of no foliage, and that they may not be quite so accurate at other times of the year. We'd love to see your pics as the seasons change, even if the daffies are no longer on show.
