Out in Cascadia Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Eagle Scout 426: Archived and Removed Today.

Maintenance check again and decided it was time to archive it.

.

Why Archive?...

  • This is found by non-geocachers repeatedly.
  • The final container has repeatedly gone missing. (Three times)

Instead of replacing the container for a 4th time at the final spot, I have decided to archive it. Staying in the waterfall area was the goal of this cache and so relocating it a distance away defeats the purpose of this cache.
So I have decided that this cache is done.
Removed the container and the logbook.

Feel free to use this idea in your own cache placements. No additional permission is necessary from me for the cache page details.

Thanks for finding it and my other caches.
Since it is gone, no new logs will be accepted.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located next to Falls Creek in Cascadia.

Early summer 2021, friends took me here. We swam through the slot canyon and looked at a hidden waterfall.
Then we attempted to find a geocache hidden by Odder. After two different attempts at the geocache, the owner archived his geoacache and said that I could create something new here.

Some notes before beginning:

  • This is not wheel chair accessible.
  • It is along the South Side of Creek (no need to cross it)
  • You will likely get muddy and wet (but don't cross the creek!
  • Satellite coverage and Cell Coverage is minimal (hence the slightly higher difficulty).
  • There is parking nearby. (see reference point).
  • Included in the reference points is the road intersection of Hwy 20 and Longbow Road (Forest Road 2032). This road will take you to the recommended parking area.

Reference Points with measurements
This area has horrible satellite coverage. So to help find it, here are some reference measurements.

  • This final is located approximately 199 feet southeast from the Bridge Reference Point
  • This final is located approximately 55 feet southwest from the archived Falls Creek Geocache.
  • This final is located approximately 32 feet south of the giant boulders in the creek.
  • This final is located approximately 27 feet southwest of the creek edge.

Cache Details:

The final is a unique container given to me as a gift. And since it is a great example of natural camouflage, I decided that this was a good spot for it.

The difficulty is related to the lack of gps service. The terrain is a bit rugged with fallen logs and boulders in the area. The actual cache is at ground level.

Please don't spoil the cache container with pictures. (Pictures of you, your adventures, the logbook, and the area are all totally welcome and encouraged).

Congratulations to First-To-Find Co-finders:

You need to actually visit the location and sign the logbook. No Arm Chair Logging.
