Midt i Aarhus ligger DEN GAMLE BY.
Det er verdens første frilandsmuseum for købstædernes kultur og historie.
Museet er opbygget som en gammel købstad med huse fra 1500- til 1800-tallet, bygninger fra 1900-tallet og et kvarter, der tegner tiden omkring 1974.
Nogle hjem og forretninger er desuden bevaret som tidslommer, som de fremstod i forskellige tidsperioder, helt op til i dag.
Den Gamle By er en vandring gennem købstadens historie de sidste 300 år.
Gæsterne kan følge udviklingen af boliger både for borgerskabet og de fattige og udviklingen af erhverv og forretninger.
Lige fra museets begyndelse sikrede det sig værktøj, inventar etc. fra gamle håndværksfag, så publikum kunne få indtryk af købstadens dagligliv i byens huse.

Værtshuset Bent J åbnede i Århus i 1973, og har til trods for sine beskedne 57 m2 igennem tiden tiltrukket nogle af de bedste danske og internationale jazznavne. Men efter 35 år valgte indehaveren Bent J i 2008 at lukke jazzbaren, da det var hans eget ønske at overdrage sit livsværk til Den Gamle By.
Ved siden af BENTJ ligger BOG CENTRALEN.

In the middle of Aarhus lies DEN GAMLE BY.
It is the world's first open-air museum for the culture and history of market towns.
The museum is built as an old market town with houses from the 16th to 19th century, buildings from the 20th century and a neighborhood that draws the time around 1974.
