Welcome to Copiague History and facts Geo-Art design as part of an Eagle Scout project by Troop 2000. The Eagle represents the Copiague schools’ mascot and the Eagle scout rank in scouting. This GeoArt is designed to bring attention to the beautiful hamlet of Copiague while learning history & trivia you might not have known existed around you. This Eagle project was done in conjunction with the Town of Babylon Beautification Program.

In 1910 a grand 40-room mansion built called The wild Goose farm by Mr William E. Hawkins who was the president of the American Brass & Copper company. He sold the estate in 1926. The mansion was transformed to Nassau Suffolk General hospital and opened July 1st 1939 with 54 beds and 40 of them for children. It is reported that their first patient was on September 14th 1939. April 1946 the hospital was sold to Robert H Bailey. A Fire started August 1949 and all patients had to be evacuated to private homes nearby. In August 1956 the hospital change names to Lake side hospital till closing November 1975. This building remained vacant till this new 55 and old community was built.
