Welcome to Copiague History and facts Geo-Art design as part of an Eagle Scout project by Troop 2000. The Eagle represents the Copiague schools’ mascot and the Eagle scout rank in scouting. This GeoArt is designed to bring attention to the beautiful hamlet of Copiague while learning history & trivia you might not have known existed around you. This Eagle project was done in conjunction with the Town of Babylon Beautification Program.

NIFE Incorporated, 21 Dixon Ave, Copiague. Thomas Edison patented the nickel iron battery in 1901, for use in his (not successful) electric cars. In 1959, only four producers of pocket and sintered nickel cadmium battery were in the United States, one being NIFE Inc, in Copiague. The industry largely went out of business (market preferred the lead acid batteries) in the mid 1970s and or maybe because their competitor bought the patents outright and “stopped” producing them.
