George Brown had big plans for the area known as Amity Harbor. It was described as a sportsman’s paradise offering fishing, hunting, boating and bathing. The big draws for the area in the 1920’s was electrified trains, Sunrise Highway paved to Amityville and duck shooting. Canales were planned behind most homes but during the Depression George Brown reportedly relinquished a 93 acre parcel in the Southern part of the development to satisfy unpaid taxes. What did this land become?
