Mill Works Traditional Cache
Bear & Ducky: Cache is not going to be serviced due to time contraints and the area requires a permit....we'd rather leave it open for someone else to place a cache. Container being removed on Saturday morning, any one hoping to run out before then...please do :)

A pleasent hike with lots of wildlife and passable terrain. Overall rating of a 3 includes the final moments of the cache and varies based on the trail you take. (HINT HINT) Parking is sparse but can be found at N 43 16.592 and W 080 00.411 If the gate is closed find parking at alternative lots down the road..there are several within 500 to 1000 meters of the area with little searching required.
One of our favorite locations to hike, there are endless trails in this area and if your making the trip you will want to check out the nearby caches in Websters Falls.
The Cache is called the "Mill Works" in honour of the Darnley Grist Mill which stands by the enterance way.
Named after Lord Darnley of Scotland, a famous ancestor of James Crooks, the Darnley grist mill was constructed between 1811 and 1813. The Mill was made of stone from a quarry near Morden's Mills downstream. Originally, the building was a square and three storeys high. A nne-meter-high overshot waterwheel was mounted on the outside wall beside Spencer Creek. Water was drawn over the wheel to power the mill. Inside the building were four sets of grindstones used for feed and flour production. After Crooks' death in 1860 the mill was sold to James Stutt and Robert Sanderson where it became the first paper mill in Upper Canada.
Cache is a small green tupperware container that contained at start: a small log book, two shortened pencils for logs (please leave!), a Green Springy fellow that likes to shake alot, some hair clips, a pill case, lip gloss, bug magnets and Canada eraser.
