A tributary to the Wolastoq/Saint John River and former salmon habitat, in 2013 the Maliseet Nation Conservation Council, in partnership with the Fredericton Fish and Game Association, completed the McIntosh Brook Fish Enhancement Program to restore the habitat for salmon. Prior to this project, the brook was impeded by three man made structures including a concrete dam which prevented a large number of salmon from using the tributary as a spawning area. Stewarding McIntosh Brook is one of many conservation projects the Maliseet Nation Conservation Council has in the Fredericton region.
