Geocache Description:

This cache is located near a popular landmark off Highway 730 in the Wallula Gap. Lewis and Clark caught their first glimpse of Mt. Hood when they climbed a bluff just downriver from the cache site; the event is significant because Lord Vancouver had charted the mountain in 1792; it was the first sign they were approaching the coast.

Although well traveled and generally safe, please watch small children because of the slope and loose rocks on the trail.

This area is open to the public, but is posted NO TRESPASSING AFTER DARK. The best way in is to climb the wooden ladder section of the barbed wire fence.

There are three paths up to the cache, the first is the hardest, probably a 4.5 climb, the second about a 3.5, and the 3rd is 2.5. I take the 2.5 but silly people have been known to not pay attention and go straight up.
