Geocache Description:

Marble Bar has earned the reputation of the hottest town in Australia.  Beautiful to visit in winter but blistering hot in summer.

Marble Bar gets its name from what was thought to be a colourful "Marble" Bar that crosses the Coongan River. Marble is metamorphosed limestone and the rock is in fact jasper, a hard and very resistant rock.

This interesting outback town was pioneered during the gold rush days of the late 1800’s. Marble Bar is home to the Comet Gold Mine and the WW2 Corunna Downs Airbase.

While there are many interesting and historical places to visit in Marble Bar, don’t forget to pose with the town’s sunburst sign which states “Warmest welcome from Australia’s Hottest Town.”  An air-conditioning company made a TV ad which featured locals. The first I saw it I was in the Iron Clad Hotel in town.

You are looking for a magnetic black nano at the entrance to town.
