The original Badger Box was only in service for three days before it was sadly stolen and had to be archived. For those who got to log it, They will remember it for its amazing camouflage giving even the most seasoned cachers a hard time to find. We learn from the past to improve the future, so I present to you Badger Box 2.0! This cache isnt only an upgraded Badger Box but its also my first mechanical cache!
As always this cache was created using repurposed materials!
Badger Box 2.0
Badger Box 2.0 is a mechanical cache that is battery operated and will require a C BATTERY to operate. You can use an AA BATTERY but your experience may differ. DO NOT USE A 9 VOLT BATTERY. DO NOT USE A 9 VOLT BATTERY. DO NOT USE A 9 VOLT BATTERY.
Do NOT OPERATE the winch without the key attached to the chain. This will cause the chain to SNAP. Either hand wind it or attach the key to the chain and then operate the winch til the chain is back to its pre set position.
Badger Box 2.0 operates on a simple winch system: Connect the wires to the battery to activate the winch inside that lowers the key.
By reversing the polarity on the battery you can have the winch go up or down. The real puzzle is how long you hold the wire on the battery terminal. Hold it for to long and the winch will rewind itself causing you to start over with reversing the polarity of the battery.
Inside you will find a Pen, logbook, hooks for trackables, and a small compartment for tradable swag.
Be sure to secure the key the way it orignally was so it does not fall off inside of the box.
Do not pull on the wires.
Be sure to watch your step as this cache does have numerous bushes and fallen tree limbs near it.
Be sure to bring a fresh battery as a weakend battery will not operate the winch properly.
This area is prone to flooding! So, be caustious where you step as the mud is pretty thick in some areas and there are very large puddles of water.
Be sure to put the green seat cover back on the box and lean the provided tree limb against the bottom so its concealed.
As always folk watch out for desert creatures, bring water as the sun is harsh and watch your step. Happy Caching.
CONGRATULATIONS TO W01F AND QZMSTRSPD FOR FTF!!!
