This cache was placed during the Covid-19 pandemic while the 3rd wave started to accelerate in Ontario, Canada. The location is next to the Villa Da Vince retirement home which had a serious outbreak of Covid-19 in late 2020 which caused many infections and sadly several deaths as well. This cache honours the mainly Italian community and all the noonos and nonnas (grandpa and grandma) that lived or live here.
The cache is hidden opposite a usually very busy courtyard of Villa Da Vinci. The seniors used to hang out in the courtyard for a walk, to talk, rest and snooze. We hope they're allowed and able to do so again very soon. Apart from the actual struggles with the disease, the consequences of lockdowns, isolation, lack of social interaction have taken a huge toll on the seniors. Please be kind, wave and give them a shout when they're out and about. When things return to normal, be cautious when approaching the cache as a dozen of seniors will be watching every move.
The cache is a camoed coffee tin with lots of space for travel bugs, toys and other goodies. Log sheet and pencil are in the can. This cache is conveniently located on a major N-S connection and close to highway 407 for access E-W. This should make a great travel bug hotel.
