Jonatan Vermeulen (1971 - 2000) was a member of a Dutch family who loved Israel. He became famous as a 4-year-old boy, when his picture of planting a tree was displayed on a JNF poster (see photo). He later joined the border patrol and was killed while trying to dismantle an explosive device during the second intifada.
The Jonatan outlook, better known as Mizpor Yonatan (מצפור יונתן), is located in the Haruvit forest. This location is a fitting memorial for Jonatan Vermeulen, with a view that streches far into the horizon. During early spring, the entire area is carpeted with flowers. There is lots of nearby parking.
