Update 3/26/23: Unfortunately the host item at the posted coordinates has been removed and you are now looking for a camo'd lock and lock hidden closer to the trail. I left the original cache description as I really didn't want to change that because its great :) I did notice a tree stand nearby so I added the hunting attribute.
A 2 part multi along the Erie Canal. Another "I just wanna sign the log!" cache, where I take you right to the cache but there's a puzzle or challenge to overcome.
I like to cache in the dark. So I've always thought D/T ratings should be flexible. I.e. another half star difficulty if found in the dark. Although, it does open the possibility of abuse-so I understand why it's not. This one could be relatively easy or hard depending on when it's searched for. The T rating is primarily for the embankment but the majority is a flat hike. The D rating is for when it's easy(after all, I do tell you where it is).
Details to find the cache: I was driving around the canal area looking for a cache to place(I know-no motorized vehicles here but I didn't care) when I drove off the embankment. Fortunately it wasn't into the canal. Unfortunately, it was pretty steep on the other side as well. No way I could get it back up without assistance and I wasn't about to call AAA. So, I abandoned it here. Park at either parking coordinates and make your way there. You'll see my car down the embankment. Go to the drivers side door and attached to the window crank(for those younger ones-that's what we used to roll up/down the windows before electric buttons) (11/29/21 update it's now a camo'd preform tube attached to the driver's side door frame hanging in the car )with easy directions to the final. As with most of my caches, please don't give away too much to future finders. Have fun!
