Odaka Junchu was born in 1830 in Shimotekage Village.
His alias was Shingoro, and his real name was Junchu, and he was called Ranko.
He was a cousin of Shibusawa Eiichi, and it is well known that Eiichi studied under Junchu from his youth, learning many subjects including the Analects of Confucius.
He was well versed in the Mito school of knowledge and practice, and had a great influence on Eiichi's life.
In the Meiji era (1868-1912), Junchu became the first director of the Tomioka Silk Mill and the Sendai branch manager of the First National Bank of Japan.
The house where Junchu Odaka was born is said to have been built in the late Edo period by Junchu's great-grandfather Isogoro. At that time, it was called by the trade name "Aburaya.
It is a valuable building that retains the atmosphere of a merchant's building in this region.
In this house, Chiyo, who became Eiichi's wife, Heikuro, who was adopted by Mitachi, and Yu, the daughter of Junchu and the first apprentice worker at the Tomioka Silk Mill, were raised.

It is also said that it was on the second floor of this house that the young Junchu, Eiichi and others sympathized with the ideology of the Emperor and the expulsion of the barbarians, and conspired to take over Takasaki Castle.
The brick warehouse at the back of the main building is made of bricks stamped with "Kamishikimemae," indicating that it was built after 1888, when Japan Brick Manufacturing Co.
The building was designated as a Fukaya City Cultural Property (Historic Site) on February 10, 2010.
