Fukaya-juku is one of the inns along the Nakasendo highway.
Fukaya-juku, the ninth post station from Edo, prospered as a large post station town.
It had one main post, four side posts, and 80 inns.
The bustle of the town can be seen in such works as Keisai Eisen's "Fukaya Station on the Gisho Kaido Road.

The standing lantern on the west side of Fukaya-juku is 4 meters high and is the largest lantern on the Nakasendo route, and was built by the Fuji-kō people.
It was built in 1840 with the inscription "Peace in the world, peace in the land, and success in the five grains" to pray for the development of Fukaya-juku.
At night, the lights are turned on. The "three" lights are very distinctive.
The cache is located near a private house, so please look carefully.

深谷宿は、中山道の宿場の一つです。
江戸から9番目の宿場になる深谷宿は、大きな宿場町として栄えていました。
本陣１、脇本陣４、旅籠８０の宿場でした。
その賑わいは、渓斎英泉の「岐阻街道 深谷之驛」などに見ることができます。

その深谷宿の西の常夜灯は高さが4mもあり、中山道筋の中でも最大のもので、富士講の人たちによって建てられました。
建てられたのは1840年で、深谷宿の発展を祈願して「天下太平、国土安民、五穀成就」の銘文が刻まれています。
夜になると明かりがつきます。「三」のあかりが特徴的です。
