Wat Sothonwararam (วัดโสธรวราราม) is a temple in Chachoengsao Province at the Bang Pakong River. It was built in the late Ayutthaya period.
The temple has the revered bronze Buddha statue Luangpho Phutthasothon. According to the legend, this statue floated along the river. Later on around 1770 CE, plaster was placed on it by monks to prevent burglary. Hence, Phutthasothon's true beauty cannot be seen. Now, worshippers put gold leafs upon the statue. It is believed to bring wellness and health to the devotees.
The temple complex and the gardens are extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful. We could not resist placing a geocache here. We hope to add to the listing later on and hopefully also hide more caches in Chachoengsao, the town and the province little known to foreigners with almost no geocaches.
