The legendary drop bear is the most dangerous Australian animal in the bush. The drop bear, scientific name Thylarctos plummetus, is a carnivorous version of the koala (Phascolarctos cinereus). While koalas are docile herbivore marsupials (and are not bears), drop bears are described as unusually large and vicious creatures that inhabit treetops and attack unsuspecting people that walk beneath them by dropping onto their heads. They’re not like Blinky Bill; they’re more like Chopper Read!
