On May 2, 2000 – 21 Years ago – the US Government flipped a switch that allowed anyone with a GPS to accurately find their location. This made personal GPS units 10-times more accurate than they had been and helped create fun activities like geocaching. In fact, the very first geocache was hidden on May 3, 2000! MNbooks, B-day!!!!!!
Was the switch blue? Who knows! But “Blue Switch Day” has been celebrated ever since.
Just Posted from GroundSpeak: Starting May 2 through the end of the year, earn the Blue Switch Day 2021 souvenir by finding a geocache, Adventure Lab®, or attending an Event. It will be automatically applied when they post an "attended" log.
