This is the resting place of many of my mother's family members so I wanted to honor her side of the family as I did my father's side. It is on a quiet, peaceful, scenic road that is devoid of caches, so placing one here seemed appropriate in more than one way. The cache is hidden on the perimeter. You do not need to cross the fence to get the cache, but the cemetery can be entered through either gate. Please be respectful if you do so.
As we leave the main highway and head to the west side of the Bear River, my mother points out the old high school her father graduated from, the house she was born in, the canal she lost a shoe in during the time of rationing - a VERY big deal in those days, and she was devistated, the mailboxes she had to ride the horse or walk to, the grade school she went to that is now a house, the cattle shed and fencing her daddy built, homes of friends and family that she remarkably still remembers by name (though she struggles with the names of her grandchildren), and so much more. We spend about an hour when we visit the cemetery as she carefully walks from headstone to headstone of her loved ones, telling each one hello and a little story about their connection in her life. The cache here will also help me to easily return here after she is gone to tell my children and grandchildren the stories.
This cache contains a log only so please bring your writing instrument. Happy caching!
