I suspect that this trail was probably a section of the original provincial highway that followed along the route of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Prior to 1976, this was Highway #14; however, to have consistent numbering along the entire inter-provincial Yellowhead Highway, it was changed to its current #16. This short abandoned section of the original road alongside a typical prairie pothole, is now seldom used and provides a quiet spot for bird watching, walking the dog, or just getting out to stretch your legs. Use your best discretion if the road is wet or snow covered as it is not maintained. A small rest area/picnic ground, Dr. Bicum Park, is located a couple of kilometers to the east, along the main highway.
