Geocache Description:

I've always been fascinated with abandoned places and structures, so I'm making a series of them around the Highlands.

Aylmerton is a small village located north east of Mittagong in the Southern Highlands. It doesn't contain much except a fire station and houses, but at one stage it did have a railway station. On the 13th of July 1919, Aylmerton railway station opened when the duplication of the main south line bypassed the single line Picton loop. It was closed on March 22 1975.

Today not much remains, I'm not sure if the rise you see across from where the cache is would be the remains of the platform but it's on the location of the station so maybe!
