This series is in honor of our Great Uncle Herbie. Herb's family settled in South Kitsap in the mid-1930s. He was born in Bremerton in 1939 and spent his whole life in Port Orchard, aside from college (CWU) and military service (USN). If you knew Herb, you loved Herb. He certainly has left a legacy for us to carry on.
All caches are hidden in or around locations that had special significance in Herb's life. If you have hidden any caches, you know that sometimes it is hard to get close to the 'perfect' spot. At times, I have had to find a location in the vicinity, rather than exactly where it 'should' be. Have fun!
Herb was a member of the Sidney Lodge of the Knights of Pythias. The Order of Knights of Pythias is an international, non-sectarian fraternal order, established in 1864 in Washington, DC, by Justus H. Rathbone and was the first fraternal order to be chartered by an Act of Congress.
This cache is best approached if you pull off the road into the driveway by the eastern gate.
