Fenwick Island, Delaware is a quiet beach town incorporated in 1953. Fenwick has a surprisingly rich in history, although most modern visitors are here to soak up the sun. This lab will take you to three historic sites and a two more modern attractions.

Some notes:

  • Many thanks to Simmsquest who gave me the idea for many of these stops, and who lent me the book "Fenwick Island, Delaware: A Brief History" by Mary Pat Kyle, which provided me with a lot of valuable background
  • If you wish to grab the bonus cache "Adventure Lab Bonus: Fenwick Island, DE" GC99F4E I recommend doing the Cannon Street Park stop LAST
  • This bonus cache page has waypoints for each Lab stage and parking to help with navigation
  • Two of the sites are very, very close to each other. Don't blame me for this! The transpeninsular marker came first, and the lighthouse came second -- only built on that site because it's one of the highest points on the island!

Enjoy! As always, constructive criticism is welcome. Feel free to message or email me with any issues you encounter.

This lab will take you to:

The Fenwick Island Light House, which is maintained by the Friends of Fenwick Island Lighthouse

The Transpeninsular Marker, which settled a colonial land dispute in 1751 and helped defined the Maryland-Delaware border

The Fenwick Island Boardwalk, which, while small, offers lots of fun options for families visiting the area

Cannon Street Park, which offers a kayak launch, a basketball court, and an outdoor playground (along Coastal Highway) near some municipal buildings

A few historic cottages from the early days of Fenwick Island

Enjoy this tour and enjoy your time down the shore!
