Geocache Description:

BABOB - CLEOPATRA'S THIMBLE?

One of a few bits and bobs for you to find around Bognor Regis.

London and New York each feature one of two ancient Egyptian obelisks, both known as "Cleopatra's Needle", for the famous Ptolemaic Queen Cleopatra VII of Egypt.  However, there doesn't appear to be any connection, other than the country of origin, between Cleopatra and these monuments.

Similarly I doubt there is any connection between this queen, or her needles, and the object of this cache.  It just happens to be a similar shape to the obelisks, although a lot shorter and with less attractive decoration!

It's one of those things that we drive past and maybe think "What is that doing there?" - and now it has a purpose as you can find a little cache at the spot.

This was the site of major work to mitigate local flooding in 2023, and the evidence is still in situ so please forgive its unattractive surroundings. In spite of this, maybe it will make you smile.

There is parking a short distance north. It is often busy with some of Bognor's fine drivers so take care.

The cache is small, magnetic and spectacular (to make up for the thimble!). Simply untwist the bottom to access the log sheet. Please don't take the cache apart in any other way, let's keep it splendid! Ironically you will need your own pen.  Please ensure the log sheet will remain dry and replace tucked right in as found.
