This cache is located on Pine Hill. This side of the hill is referred to by locals somewhat arbitrarily as the backside, because the other side faces Walden Pond. If you climb up to the top, there's a nice view. I placed used a replacement cache I carry spur of the moment while out looking for Pine Hill's Friend, an archived 2001 cache I thought might still be out there. As such, the log is marked "Replacement Cache" even though it's not really.
Pine Hill is a large tract of land near the Thoreau Institute at Walden Woods. Much of it is preserved by the Town of Lincoln and Lincoln Land Conservation Trust for passive recreation. It was one of Thoreau’s favorite huckleberry picking spots. This drumlin overlooks Wachusett and Mt. Monadnock looking in the direction of Walden Pond.
