In celebration of our 25,000 finds we have hidden four Geocaches in our adopted town of Fox Lake. Enjoy the tour.
Fox Lake was incorporated on Dec 1906. In the early 20th century it was known as Nippersink Point. Only a few hundred people lived here year round then but during the summer the population soared to almost 20,000 and at its peak the area had 50 hotels and 2,000 cottages. Fox Lake is still a popular town with many Chicagoians having summer homes here. It being on the Chain O'Lakes make for great swimming, boating, fishing and picnicking.
