Hércules Poirot fue creado por la escritora inglesa Agatha Chrisite. Poirot es un hombrecillo educado, amable, un poco vanidoso y sibarita, pero que tiene una mente (producto de sus "células grises") que es capaz de usar tanto el razonamiento como la psique para resolver los misterios más difíciles. Lo más llamativo de su aspecto es su bien cuidado bigote que con los años tuvo que sustituir, por coquetería, por un bigote falso.

Poirot is a polite, kind, slightly vain and sybaritic little man, but he has a mind (a product of his "grey cells") that is capable of using both reasoning and the psyche to solve the most difficult mysteries. The most striking feature of his appearance is his well-groomed moustache, which over the years he has had to replace, out of coquetry, with a false moustache.
