In my earlier incarnation as an Elementary Principal, I observed something odd which occurred every May 1st. The school secretary (who would now be an administrative assistant) would phone the School Division Secretary Treasurer (who would now be a Superintendent of Business) as soon as she arrived at work. Her first words would always be "Hooray. Hooray. The First of May" which would be followed by giggling. There would be a response from the other end followed by more giggling, then they would say their farewells, and that would be it. For a year.
