The Series

Do you love mystery caches?  Do you love D/T (Difficulty/Terrain) ratings?  if so, we have a GREAT series for you!!!

The Jackson County Agritourism Geo-Trail 81 series (JCAT-81) has been placed for YOU! We do have to fess up that the series isn’t actually in Jackson County, but it’s a stone’s throw away and an awesome set of caches.  If you complete all 81, you will have completed an entire D/T grid. Total fizzy awesomeness!

The majority of the caches are hidden in Sandy Creek Park.  There is an entrance fee of $2 per person to enter.  Current park hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Mondays. (Note: Hours can change-- please check with the park before making your trip plans)

The caches are hidden in a variety of containers and styles.  The puzzles will help build your puzzle-solving skills.  Be on the lookout for some JCAT-81 Puzzle-Solving events where we will help you solve some of the tougher ones.

This series is a collaborative effort of “The Puzzle Posse”!  The Puzzle Posse consists of Bragger407, GeoMonkeyTiger!, LaFavorite Cacher, and poeanne.

The Puzzle

(This puzzle brought to you by Bragger407)

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!

The animals met one night to discuss conditions on the farm.

Everybody had an opinion, but no one could hear very well, because most of them had very bad manners.

The sheep were the main problem, drowning out the other animals with their boisterous noises.

Things got so chaotic, finally the bull stamped his hoof to get everyone else’s attention.

“This isn’t getting us anywhere,” he snorted loudly. “We can’t all speak at once. Take your turn!”

Finally the others began to calm down, offering each other supportive pats on their flanks and apologizing for being offensive.

Surprisingly, the goats demonstrated the most proper behavior of them all.

The others then began to follow suit, and while they didn’t exactly follow Robert’s Rules of Order, at least they could hear one another.

“Farmer John,” said the plow mule, “has always treated us well; we have food and a nice dry shelter, and he never mistreats us.”

“I just wish he would give me a few more juicy apples,” said one pig.

“I feel a little bad now because of that one time I kicked him,” the milk cow said mournfully.

“Let’s all agree to do our jobs and not give him a hard time anymore,” suggested one of the hens, pecking at the ground for any remaining seeds.

No one objected, and it was unclear who had asked the creatures to gather in the first place.

“Well, I’m glad we got that settled,” sniffed the Siamese cat haughtily. “Now if anyone wants to find me, I will be lounging beside the cozy fire.”
