Our family moved to the area a few years ago and we are definitely enjoying the local wine culture. The Monte Bello grapevine is particularly delicious! We have been enjoying visiting the nearby wineries and checking out the amazing view of the valley. For this cache you can head up the gentle slope up Monte Bello Road, a road paved long ago but has been left to crumble. You will be surrounded by greenery (some of which is poison oak so be careful!) on your way up the hill. You will even get glimpses of the wonderful Monte Bello grapevines through the trees on your way up.
You are looking for a micro container that is too small for swag or even a pen, so bring your own. There are a couple of ways to access this trail. The fastest would be to park at the listed coordinates. This will bring you to a lot that is currently by permit only. If you go to the park website you can get information on the trails and parking: https://www.openspace.org/preserves/monte-bello The lot listed is the MB02 lot, or you can park at the other side at the Page Mill Road LT01 parking lot. The cache is hidden just off of the old Montebello Road, an old paved road with a gradual slope up the hill.
