The Series
Do you love mystery caches? Do you love D/T (Difficulty/Terrain) ratings? if so, we have a GREAT series for you!!!
The Jackson County Agritourism Geo-Trail 81 series (JCAT-81) has been placed for YOU! We do have to fess up that the series isn’t actually in Jackson County, but it’s a stone’s throw away and an awesome set of caches. If you complete all 81, you will have completed an entire D/T grid. Total fizzy awesomeness!
The majority of the caches are hidden in Sandy Creek Park. There is an entrance fee of $2 per person to enter. Current park hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Mondays. (Note: Hours can change-- please check with the park before making your trip plans)
The caches are hidden in a variety of containers and styles. The puzzles will help build your puzzle-solving skills. Be on the lookout for some JCAT-81 Puzzle-Solving events where we will help you solve some of the tougher ones.
This series is a collaborative effort of “The Puzzle Posse”! The Puzzle Posse consists of Bragger407, GeoMonkeyTiger!, LaFavorite Cacher, and poeanne.
This Cache
This cache is rated a 5.0/2.0. The puzzle will definitely test you! The good news is the physical hide will be much easier than the puzzle! Just be sure to watch out for Muggles!!

This Puzzle
(This puzzle brought to you by GeoMonkeyTiger!)
The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!
Two farmers were visiting the United States touring Jackson and Athens-Clarke County to view farming practices. The first of the two farmers was French and his name was Rene Vige. The second farmer was from The Netherlands and his name was Dane Tomipe.
Not many people know this, but French and Dutch farmers often have bitter rivalries, and this was no exception. Vige and Tomipe had some previous run-ins and shared no love for each other. But, they wanted to meet to discuss some of the farming practices they had seen.
Rene: We must meet!
Dane: Yes! We must!
Rene: There is a secret location where no one will be able to listen to our conversation. I think we should meet there. I can tell you the coordinates. They are North Thre—
Dane: STOP!!! RENE, STOP!!!
Rene: What???
Dane: Are you really just going to blurt out the coordinates so that anyone can hear and spy on us as we talk about Georgian/Dutchian/Frenchian farming techniques???
Rene: I can text them to you?
Dane: What?!?! Unencrypted?!?!?! So that just anyone can read them?!?!?!
Rene: Sacré bleu!!! I think you’re being paranoid, but I will send you the coordinates. And, I will send them encrypted.
Dane: But wait! I want to take one final step to make sure we aren’t followed!!
Rene: Sacré bleu!!! What now, Dutchman???
Dane: We will start some distance away from each other. You will send me your point, and I will send you mine. Once we have the two points, we can figure out the exact middle of those points and meet there!!
Rene: Sacré bleu!!! You are crazy, Dane!
Dane: Security is important. I will use my favorite cipher. I will use the first five words of the most famous American song about farms as the passcode. I REPEAT!!! THE FIRST FIVE WORDS!!!
Rene: Very well. I will use MY favorite cipher and I know the song you refer to, so I will use the same one.
Dane: Very well. Though I’m not sure that’s enough. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
Rene: Are you thinking that this is a LOT of trouble to talk about farming techniques??
Dane: Dit is zo frustrerend!!! No, I think we should do one more thing to hide the coordinates from each other. Are you thinking what I am?
Rene: : Sacré bleu!!! Actually, I think I am!
Dane: Ok, so you send me your encrypted coordinates of where you’ll start. I’ll send you mine and we will meet EXACTLY in the middle!!
(Several minutes go by…)
Rene: Ok, Dane. Here is my encoded message: Ywrmqqotcncaxoewétliwawiwqcefhpqxuraqtbcdpatqrhteblqshbuufbiggqrprkesefbcmkqqtlwb
Dane: Excellent! Here is my encoded message: Ecuggixzuywkbqaomhhelbzpfmzmyhffovchawuryhjgljznuhrxshvxvwpxatbxmkjiyh
Rene: What time should we meet?
Dane: How about 11:00 PM Monday night?
Rene: Sacré bleu!!! The park is closed at 11:00 PM and is also closed on Mondays??
Dane: I suppose then 3:00 AM is out of the question?
Rene: Sacré bleu!!!
Dane: Fine. How about you call me after lunch, and we'll meet when you're available.
Rene: I will see you then!
They met, and after having a long argument about whether Poffertjes were better than Croissants, they learned a lot about their visits!
Can you find their meeting point? They may have left something behind!!
