City of Naples Cache Multi-Cache

SpiderTracks: GrandpaKim is right. This was a good place for a cache with an interesting twist. Too bad someone had to keep taking it.

Geocache Description:

This is a simple multistep - orienteering cache. You can use your GPS to find the first stop. And then use it to measure direction and distance to the other spots and the cache. It should take less than 30 minutes to do this one.

NOTE: The hiding spot was moved on June 12, 2003 to a new location 10 feet east of the old one. The instructions below still work.

I Had an accuracy of 20-25 feet while laying out this cache. I used averaging to get the best reads on the distances and bearings between the checkpoints here. You might get a little different from what I've given you below... but with the descriptions of the different spots, you'll know you are on track at each one.

Set your GPSr for TRUE north for best results in determining bearings to each check point. Or you can use magnetic north and just adjust for about a 13* declination to the east. * = degree.

#1 The coordinates above are for a fountain - a good place to get a drink - and the starting spot for the search. If your GPSr reads a little off here, mark your position again while holding it right over the fountain

#2 Use GOTO and the BEARING option to move away from #1 until you are 85-95 feet away and the bearing BACK to that spot is about 220*. You will find yourself at a "point". Stand at the border between lawn and shrubbery and mark this position.

#3 "GOTO away" from #2 now until you are about 60-70 feet away with a bearing back to #2 around 130*. This is a "grate" place to mark a position from which to work on toward the cache hiding spot. This #3 spot is metalic, 3 foot square, and you can look through it.

#4 Now, use the same method to go away from #3 for about 125-135 feet with a bearing back to #3 of about 165*. You are now very close to the hiding spot.

You are looking for a plastic 4lb. peanutbutter jar with a blue lid. Its hidden under a rocky mass.
