Vrgoračka Gradina



Vrgorac se smjestio u podnožju jugoistočnog dijela Matokita (1063 m), podno srednjovjekovne tvrđave koja dominira obzorjem. Hrvatska plemena naseljavaju ovaj kraj u 7. i 8. st. asimilirajući postupno zatečeno stanovništvo. Vrgorac je poznat po svojim kulama. Ima ih ukupno sedam. U jednoj od kula rodio se i živio poznati hrvatski pjesnik Augustin Tin Ujević. Tvrđava Gradina (srednjovjekovni stari grad Vrgorac) sagrađena je u 15. stoljeću. Godine 1493 utvrda pada u ruke Turaka koji su ju držali oko dva stoljeća, do 1690. godine. Turci su istočno od tvrđave Gradina sagradili kulu Avala koja je služila za obranu ulaza u tvrđavu.

Fortress of Vrgorac

Vrgorac is located at the foot of the southeastern part of Matokit (1063 m), under the medieval fortress that dominates the horizon. Croatian tribes inhabited this area in the 7th and 8th centuries, gradually assimilating the existing population. Vrgorac is famous for its towers. There are a total of seven. The famous Croatian poet Augustin Tin Ujević was born and lived in one of the towers. Gradina Fortress (medieval old town Vrgorac) was built in the 15th century. In 1493 the fort fell into the hands of the Turks who held it for about two centuries, until 1690. The Turks built the Avala tower east of the Gradina fortress, and its purpose was to defend the entrance to the fortress.

Befestigungsanlage Vrgorac

Vrgorac liegt am Fuße des südöstlichen Teils des Matokits (1063 m), unter einer mittelalterlichen Festung, die den Horizont dominiert. Kroatische Stämme ließen sich im 7. und 8. Jahrhundert in dieser Region nieder und assimilierten sich allmählich mit der bestehenden Bevölkerung. Vrgorac ist berühmt für seine Türme. Insgesamt gibt es sieben davon. In einem der Türme wurde der berühmte kroatische Dichter Augustin Tin Ujević geboren und lebte dort. Die Festung Gradina (mittelalterliche Altstadt von Vrgorac) wurde im 15. Jahrhundert erbaut. 1493 fiel die Festung in die Hände der Türken, die sie etwa zwei Jahrhunderte lang bis 1690 hielten. Östlich der Festung Gradina bauten die Türken den Avala-Turm, der zur Verteidigung des Festungseingangs diente.

Grodzisko Vrgorac

Vrgorac znajduje się u podnóża południowo-wschodniej części Matokitu (1063 m), pod średniowieczną fortecą, która dominuje na horyzoncie. Plemiona chorwackie osiedlały się w tym regionie w VII i VIII wieku, stopniowo asymilując się z zastaną ludnością. Vrgorac słynie z wież. W sumie jest ich siedem. W jednej z wież urodził się i mieszkał słynny chorwacki poeta Augustin Tin Ujević. Twierdza Gradina (średniowieczne stare miasto Vrgorac) została zbudowana w XV wieku. W 1493 roku fort wpadł w ręce Turków, którzy utrzymywali go przez około dwa wieki, aż do 1690 roku. Na wschód od twierdzy Gradina Turcy zbudowali wieżę Avala, która służyła do obrony wejścia do twierdzy.
