This is the bonus cache for the "It's the Water!" Adventure Lab. To get the coordinates for this cache, you need to first complete the 10 lab caches of that Adventure Lab. As you do the Adventure Lab stops, you will gather the final coordinates and a hint for finding the container.
I had hoped to place an Adventure Lab in the Monarch Sculpture Park and Art Center. Once there, I sadly discovered that there was absolutely no cell service at the location. What to do about placing this Adventure Lab?
A few days later, I noticed that Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls had reopened. I had my location! I began a series of walks at the park. I learned from the reader boards. I took photos. I was pleasantly surprised at the improvements that had been made during the time they were closed to the public. I took multiple GPS readings with two GPSes and then averaged them to get the coordinates I used. By now, I think I could walk the park blindfolded and tell you where I am and what the points of interest are.
Of course, I both saw and found references to things I enjoy and could include in the stops along the way.
- native plants - I identified well over 100 native plants types on the property where I built my home.
- salmon - I used to work with salmon spawning and care at the Seattle Aquarium.
- geology - a new interest for me since earthcaches were introduced to geocaching.
- trains and railroads - if you know me, no need to ask why I included them.
- history - doing the Adventure Lab in Centralia got me started on studying history - a subject I thought I disliked.
Sorry - I couldn't find a way to include tree identification in this Adventure Lab.
