Geocache Description:

Hello there, Geocastaway!
Before you get started, here's a shoutout from the winner of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen XAdam Klein.

This is Episode 03 and final of the Survivor: Pearl Islands trilogy, the 2nd season of my Geocache Survivor Series.

This season, geocastaways get to be pirates in search for gold hidden along the expedition of some of the most famous explorers, after whom the tribes of Survivor: Pearl Islands were named. In addition, FTF pirate can actually claim the gold at the end of his/her plunder journey.

NOTE: For traditional geocachers, GZ is revealed at the end of this page.

For the geocastaways of tribe MORGAN:

  • Henry Morgan was a Welsh privateer, plantation owner, and, later, Lieutenant Governor of Jamaica who was famous for attacking Spanish cities and settlements in the Caribbean and Central America when England was at war with Spain. (From: Wikipedia)
  • The waypoints represent eight of the places plundered and attacked by Morgan's fleet during the 1600s; however, only ONE represents the location of the hidden treasure.

ROLES:

  • Be a Seasoned Privateer and raid all settlements you come across and plunder away
  • Or a Historian who first examines Sir Henry Morgan's career as a privateer for hints of the location of his treasured gold
  • Or a Cartographer, a map specialist, who analyses terrains and locations (See cartographer's riddle)
  • Or a Treasure Hunter who derives the treasure's location from hints from the past (See Morgan's riddle)

Cartographer's Riddle:

Morgan's Riddle:

  • Field Puzzle
  • Late in 1669, Morgan sailed with ten ships to Isle A’Vache off the coast of Hispaniola (modern Haiti). Here, the Oxford a warship and Morgan’s flagship sent out for the defense of Jamaica by the British government, found the French privateer ship Le Cerf Volant. Morgan confiscated that ship for his campaign in Maracaibo. During this particular gathering, the Oxford blew up in an gigantic explosion killing over 250 people while Morgan dined with some other Captains on the aft deck. After this incident the Le Cerf Volant became Morgan’s new flagship and he renamed her Satisfaction. (From Oceans Discovery).
  • Begin your plunder ventures from the published coordinates and search "Le Cerf Volant" for its golden anchor.
  • Note that though the anchor is golden, it is NOT claimable, though attached to it is a bonus treasure hunter's reward. Please do LOG when you have claimed the bonus reward. Hurry, before the muggle pirates strike again!

NOTES

  • Like most mystery caches, the physical container is NOT at the published coordinates. It is however, a good reference point for viewing the surrounding waypoints.
  • The container is a micro, so please do BYOP.
  • Since this location is under Sydney Olympic Park Authority, please DO NOT enter areas off pathways and structures such as boardwalks.
  • The loot can be accessed along designated pathways/structures for visitors and is NOT placed in trees or other living things in the GZ.
  • For the Pirate's riddle: Please be very careful when handling the anchor since it will be difficult to replace. Please notify me immediately just in case you dropped it or if you think it is definitely missing. Because of the possibility of a muggle pirate incident, if you firmly believe that the muggle pirates have plundered the "Le Cerf Volant", please head to the Muggle Pirates Incident section at the end of the page.
  • For the final gold this season, the plunderers will need to go the extra mile and may have to reach out blindly for gold at the final tribal council area, where fire represents life and when your fire is gone, so are you.

LOGGING REQUESTS:

  • Please do log the ROLE (privateer, historian, cartographer, or treasure hunter) you assumed in order to get to the right raided place.
  • Please do log if you have claimed the gold.
  • Please do NOT log direct spoilers (e.g. correct waypoint, or photo of the anchor) but feel free to add your own cryptic clues.

FTF:

  • Survivor fan stereocacher1 has claimed the tribal council gold!
