Gavalochori is a traditional Cretan village in the region of Apokorona. There is a museum in the centre of the village that reflects some of the history and culture of the area.
On the outskirts of the village which is also accessible by road, you can find a group of Venetian wells. This is a cool and shady spot. There is a large plane tree to sit beneath and relax. Nearby there is an ancient stone bridge about a hundred metres further down the ravine.
The cache itself is an antique Thorntons toffee tin featuring a scene from Treasure Island on its lid. Quite fitting really for a hidden cache. It contains a log book, pen and some trinkets and is behind some easily moved stones which will need replacing carefully to keep the cache concealed. There is plenty of room in the cache to leave items should you so desire.
The cache is located by the entrance to the wells and far away from them. As this is a large site and there are many stones, including those that are part of the wells, it is important that you review the picture spoiler alert to easily identify the location of the cache without having to unnecessarily disturb the well structures.
