At the foot of mount Lapithas lies the acropolis known as ancient Sami. This archaeological site has the remains of a fortified citadel dating back to the Archaic period. Surrounded by massive walls and towers made from limestone blocks, plenlty of the remains can still be found around this site.
How to get there
The acropolis is north of kaiafas lake, following sign posts from the main road will lead you to the start of the mountain. Cars can be parked at the lower levels and the rest can be reached by foot.
The cache
Medium sized hand painted plastic container with a log book, pencil and some small items to trade. To find this cache you have to take a small climb up the remains of one of the towers. The climb is easy enough and does not require much effort, this being because parts of the wall have fallen in place to make steps.
Take care and enjoy the view!
