Geocache Description:

12 June 2021, 11:00 - 16:00

To quote Bob Seger in his classic rock song, Like A Rock,

Twenty years now
Where'd they go?
Twenty years
I don't know.
I sit and I wonder sometimes,
Where they've gone.

The Central Oklahoma Geocachers have the distinction of having the 2nd longest continuously running event in geocaching history, our annual Spring Fling.  The first one was on June 8, 2002 and was quite a simple affair with a meal, some guitar playing & singing and conversation as well as a commemorative cache and 12 new caches to find.  It was held on farm land and was a one day affair with no camping.  Over the years, each dynamically changing group of COG members added more and more layers to this wonderful annual event until we had what has to be the biggest, best and most elaborate Spring Fling yet last year in 2020.

However, this year, we're planning something a little different.  In our best form of paying tribute to that first group of Geocachers who started Spring Fling with a simple afternoon of fun and camaraderie, we're going back to the basics of Spring Fling as we pay homage to the First Spring Fling.

We will meet from 11:00am - 4:00pm at Eagle Lake in Del City for an afternoon fun, games, caching, kayaking, swapping stories and sharing good times as only COG can do.  Get your stories together and let's share some memories of past Spring Fling events as well as making some new memories. Note: FYI the park does not permit alcohol consumption.

GAME UPDATE: We are excited to announce both a perennial favorite as well as a new game. William Cole will be sponsoring his ever-popular Stake-Out Challenge. Those who are planning to do the Stake-Out Challenge may want to come early to start working the challenge. You can start the challenge at 8am and the challenge will end at 2pm. You must turn in your Stake-out answers to William no later than 2pm. McGMob will be sponsoring a Challenging Kayak Game. You must have a partner to play, but a Kayak will be provided if you don't have one of your own to bring. Prizes will be awarded at the end of Spring Fling. And yes, there will be TB's to trade and discover as well as "signature items" to trade.

LUNCH UPDATE: We are excited to announce that we will be providing a FREE PIZZA LUNCH to all attendees. This includes bottled water, sodas, and tea. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR WILL ATTEND LOG WITH THE NUMBER IN YOUR PARTY so we will know how much Pizza & beverages to buy. We will also have plates, silverware, napkins & cups available. We plan to eat lunch first around 11:30 and play games after lunch.

PLEASE KEEP WATCHING THIS PAGE,  as we will be updating with event details the closer we get to June 12.

Thanks from your Spring Fling Committee, Team GatorOKC, PSteelman1 and McGMob.  Can't wait to see you there !
