La torre eptagonale risale al XII secolo, è alta 25 metri e sembra la bizzarra prua di una nave arenata in collina.
In Europa è l’unica torre esistente con una pianta di 7 lati! Perché sia stata costruita con gli inconsueti sette lati non è chiaro, forse per distinguerla dagli altri torrioni del sistema difensivo fermano. Dalla sua sommità lo sguardo spazia, nei giorni limpidi, dal monte Conero al Gran Sasso e fino alle coste albanesi. La grande campana del Cinquecento scandisce ancora oggi i suoi rintocchi ogni giorno, alternandosi con quella della torre dell’Orologio, guardiana del castello.

The “Torre Eptagonale” (Heptagonal Tower) dates to the XII century, is 25 metres high and looks like the bizarre bow of a ship stranded on the hill. It is the only existing tower with a 7-sided plan in Europe! The reason why it was built with the unusual seven sides is not clear, perhaps to distinguish it from the other towers of the Fermo defensive system. On clear days, from its summit the view sweeps from Mount Conero to Gran Sasso and up to the Albanian coasts. The great 16th-century bell still strikes its chimes every day, alternating with that of the Clock Tower, guardian of the castle.
