Il centro storico di questo delizioso borgo è abbastanza ben conservato: sono rimasti notevoli tratti di cinta muraria muniti di porte e sei torrioni risalenti ai secoli XV e XVI. La visita offre gradevoli scorci e preziose testimonianze del passato storico e artistico del borgo.
Dal Belvedere De Carolis, suggestivo terrazzo panoramico, attraverso la porta Aspromonte si entra nel centro storico e si giunge in piazza della Repubblica, il cuore del paese dominato dalla collegiata di Santa Lucia. La chiesa è completamente rifatta in stile neoclassico, ma le sue origini sono antichissime, tra il III e il V secolo. Nell’abside esterno è stato reinserito il portale della chiesa Madre, detto “portale della Pinnova”, con figure stilizzate di guerrieri in armi e a cavallo e di animali simbolici risalente ai secoli XI-XII.
Nel 1900, in occasione dell’Anno Santo, la chiesa è stata riccamente decorata da artisti della scuola fermana. Degni di nota sono il soffitto a cassettoni impreziosito da stucchi, rosoni e ornamenti a rilievo, le tempere di Luigi Fontana che raffigurano la vita di Santa Lucia e il coro di legno di noce del XVII secolo.
The historic centre of this delightful village is preserved quite well: there are still remarkable stretches of walls with doors and six towers dating back to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The visit offers pleasant views and valuable evidence of the historical and artistic past of the village. From “Belvedere De Carolis”, a charming panoramic terrace, going through the Aspromonte Gateway, the historic centre and Piazza della Repubblica, the heart of the village dominated by the collegiate church of St. Lucy, can be reached. The church is completely rebuilt in Neoclassical style, but its origins are very old, between the III and V centuries. In the external apse was reinserted the portal of the Mother Church, known as "portal of the Pinnova", with stylized figures of warriors in arms and on horseback and symbolic animals dating back to the XI-XII centuries. In 1900, on the occasion of the Holy Year, the church was richly decorated by artists of the Fermo school. Worthy of note are the coffered ceiling embellished with stuccoes, rosettes and relief ornaments, the temperas by Luigi Fontana depicting the life of St. Lucy and the walnut choir of the XVII century.
