This beautiful little town is in the world's largest shire, and was established in 1893 after gold was discovered in the area.
The name of the town was given when it was believed that the rock found across the Coongan River was marble, but is in fact jasper!
The town is well worth a visit and a great place to pull up for a few days and have a look around the general area.
There is a magnificent visitors centre, holiday park, the famous and historical 'Ironclad Hotel' and basic amenities for fuel and basic supplies.
If you travel here in the summer months you will be sure to experience one of the hottest places on earth with temperatures often in excess of 45 degrees, but this is also the 'wet' season and travel can be tricky and dangerous, often with many road closures throughout the region, so plan and prepare accordingly.
Marble Bar is a wonderful place to explore and experience and we've had the opportunity to travel to the town several times now and enjoy
every visit!
We hope that this cache will inspire others to make the trip, as it is a long way from almost anywhere!
Please enjoy the journey and respect the environment.
