The 2.3 acre Widow’s Hole Preserve was formerly a marine gas station that served the Greenport fishing fleet from the mid-1920s until its closure in the mid-1980s. The land was donated to the Peconic Land Trust in 2012 whose volunteer efforts have restored the area to its natural state and increased the resiliency of the shoreline by the addition of sand, cobblestone and rock as well as the planting of native beach grasses.
