Another addition to the ‘Footsteps of St Birirnus’ caches, originally set by No Educashun.
The 7th Century Birinus converted the pagan Saxons to Christianity in the Kingdom of Wessex. He died in AD 650 and it is thought that pilgrims began to visit his grave soon afterwards, to pray and seek his support for their intentions.
The name of this part of the route is ‘Pilgrim Way’ in recognition of those early pilgrims. This is a new ‘Footsteps of St Birinus 3’ to replace the old cache of No Educashun which was archived.
