Cingoli è chiamato “il balcone delle Marche” ed è adagiato sulla sommità del monte Circe. Deriva il suo nome dal latino “cingulum” che significa “sporgenza rocciosa”.
Appena entrati nel centro storico colpiscono subito i colori caldi degli intonaci delle facciate che si susseguono lungo l’arteria principale della città, armoniosamente intercalati dall’austerità della pietra esibita dagli eleganti portali rinascimentali. La sensazione di calma e rara atemporalità è rafforzata dalla quasi totale chiusura del centro alla circolazione automobilistica. Cingoli is called "the balcony of the Marche region" and lies on the top of Mount Circe. Its name derives from the Latin "cingulum" which means "rocky protrusion".
As soon as you enter the historic centre, the warm colours of the plaster on the façades that follow one another along the main artery of the city, harmoniously interspersed with the austerity of the stone exhibited by the elegant Renaissance portals, are immediately striking. The feeling of calm and rare timelessness is reinforced by the almost total closure of the centre to motor traffic.
